Privacy Policy
Last updated: 19 August 2026
ModifyX processes your files inside your own browser. This page explains what that means in practice, and is specific about the few places where third parties are involved.
Your files are not uploaded
Every tool on this site runs as JavaScript and WebAssembly inside the page you are looking at. When you choose a file, the browser hands it to code running on your device. It is held in memory, processed there, and written back out as a download.
There is no upload step, no copy on a server, and no retention period to worry about — because there is nothing to retain. Closing the tab discards everything.
You can verify this: open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab, and run any tool. You will not see your file being transmitted.
What does leave your device
Being accurate matters more than sounding absolute, so here is the complete list:
- Page and asset requests. Loading the site itself fetches HTML, JavaScript, styles and images, as any website does.
- Processing engines. Some tools download a component the first time you use them — an AI model for background removal, or the ffmpeg engine for audio and video. These are fetched from public CDNs and cached by your browser. The request reveals which engine you asked for, never your file.
- Advertising. The site is funded by ads served by Adsterra. Their scripts run in the page and may set cookies or read your IP address and approximate location for ad targeting, as ad networks generally do. Their handling of that data is governed by their own policy, not this one.
- Analytics. Vercel Analytics records aggregate page views. It does not use cookies and does not build a profile of you.
What we store about you
Nothing. There are no accounts, no logins and no database of users. We do not know who you are, we cannot email you, and there is no profile to export or delete.
Some tools remember settings in your browser's local storage so your preferences survive a refresh. That data stays on your device and can be cleared through your browser at any time.
Passwords and signatures
A few tools ask for sensitive input — a PDF password, or a drawn signature. These are used by code running in the page and are never transmitted anywhere. A password you set when encrypting a PDF cannot be recovered by us, because we never receive it.
Children
The site is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Material changes to how files are handled would be noted on the site itself.
Contact
Questions about any of this can go through the contact page.
